Modern Industrial Complex for Coal Preparation and Processing
The Dry Coal Beneficiation Complex of the Shakhtinskaya Mine is a modern production facility designed to improve the efficiency of coal processing and modernize the existing infrastructure of the enterprise. The project was implemented in the Karaganda region as part of the reconstruction of the coal yard and combines two technologically interconnected buildings — the coal crushing building and the dry coal beneficiation building.
The main objective of the complex is to ensure continuous and efficiently organized preparation of coal for further use. The design concept is based on a sequential technological scheme in which each stage performs a strictly defined function, and all components operate as a single integrated production system.
Technological Logic of the Complex
The process begins in the coal crushing building, where the raw material undergoes primary mechanical preparation. At this stage, the coal is reduced to the required size fraction and then transported via a system of belt conveyors to the dry coal beneficiation building.
In the next stage, the material is separated according to quality characteristics without the use of water. The application of dry beneficiation technology is particularly important for enterprises operating under conditions that require reduced water consumption, lower operational costs, and improved environmental performance.
This scheme ensures a stable material supply, reduces technological losses, and provides reliable operation of the entire production complex.
Coal Crushing Building
The coal crushing building is the first technological unit of the complex and ensures the preparation of raw material for further separation.
The compact three-story volume with overall dimensions of 11 × 12 m is designed with a vertical organization of technological processes. This approach allows for efficient use of space and minimizes the length of internal transport lines.
The first level accommodates production rooms, a compressor station, and a heating unit. The upper levels are allocated for crushing equipment, maintenance platforms, and connection nodes with conveyor galleries.
Thanks to its well-considered layout, the facility ensures operational convenience, equipment accessibility for maintenance, and reliability of the production cycle.
Dry Coal Beneficiation Building
The dry coal beneficiation building is the central element of the complex.
The facility has a rectangular footprint measuring 15 × 30 m and is designed as a single-story structure with an increased height of 20.2 m to the underside of the load-bearing structures. These parameters are determined by the need to accommodate large-scale technological equipment and to organize vertical material movement within the production space.
The internal structure of the building is formed around technological separation lines. The space is arranged to ensure a logical sequence of operations, ease of equipment maintenance, and safe movement of personnel.
The dry coal beneficiation building becomes the core of the entire complex, where the quality of the final product is formed and the efficiency of processing is ensured.
Engineering Solutions and Structural Reliability
Both buildings are designed on the basis of a steel rigid-frame braced structure with monolithic reinforced concrete foundations. This solution ensures high load-bearing capacity, resistance to vibration and dynamic loads, as well as structural durability under intensive industrial operation.
Modern three-layer sandwich panels with mineral wool insulation are used for both external and internal enclosure structures. They provide:
- Energy efficiency of the facility
- Resistance to the climatic conditions of Kazakhstan
- Reduced operational costs
- Reliable protection of internal technological processes
Material transportation between production units is carried out via a system of belt conveyors integrated into conveyor galleries. For equipment maintenance, monorail systems are provided, improving installation efficiency and operational convenience.
Architectural Image
The architecture of the complex is designed in a modern industrial style.
Strict geometric facades, concise volumes, and balanced proportions create a unified industrial image. The corporate color scheme — a combination of grey and graphite tones with accent orange elements — emphasizes the technological character of the facility and its integration into modern industrial infrastructure.
The complex is perceived as a functional engineering structure, where architecture is directly subordinated to the logic of production.
Project Implementation Impact
The implementation of the dry coal beneficiation complex enables the enterprise to achieve a number of important operational advantages:
- Increased stability of technological processes
- Improved quality of coal raw material processing
- Reduced material losses during preparation and separation stages
- Lower water consumption due to dry beneficiation technology
- Reduced operational expenditures (OPEX)
- Improved reliability and ease of equipment maintenance
The Dry Coal Beneficiation Complex of the Shakhtinskaya Mine is an example of modern industrial design, where technological efficiency, engineering reliability, and architectural expressiveness are integrated into a unified production system.
The project creates a sustainable infrastructural foundation for the development of the coal industry in the Karaganda region and demonstrates a practical approach to the modernization of industrial facilities in Kazakhstan.
